Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) @ PMHC

PMHC’s Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) provide individualized behavioral and therapeutic support to children and adolescents who may benefit from additional support at home, in school, and in the community. Our compassionate team works closely with youth, families, schools, and other providers to build skills, address behavioral and emotional challenges, strengthen relationships, and promote meaningful progress.

What Are IBHS Services?

Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) are individualized mental health services designed to help children, adolescents, and young adults improve behaviors, emotional regulation, communication, social skills, and daily functioning at home, school, and in the community.

IBHS can include:

Behavior support in school, home, or community settings
Parent/caregiver support and coaching
Skill-building and behavior interventions
Clinical oversight and treatment planning
Collaboration with schools and providers

What Is Medical Necessity?

“Medical Necessity” means the services are clinically needed to support the child’s mental, emotional, or behavioral health and daily functioning.

A child may qualify for IBHS when:

Behavioral or emotional challenges significantly impact functioning
Symptoms interfere with school, home, relationships, or safety
Less intensive supports are not enough on their own
A licensed clinician recommends treatment based on an evaluation

Medical necessity is determined through a clinical assessment and insurance authorization process.
